Which do you prefer and why?

Also tell me if you ever had any problems with the game after using either one.

You mean for cleaning mods right?

I prefer Tesame as you can be more specific with that!
On the other hand TESTool is easier to use!

Tesame has always been my favorite. Pick the mod, remove the nasties, and save. No muss, no fuss.

And will sing of darkened hordes.

Then, oh my children, we shall drink their blood.

I feel like I've said this lots of times already, but I prefer TESAME. That is simply because I like having total control over what is being done to a mod I'm editting. Doesn't matter if I'm cleaning GMST's and dirty dialog entries out of a mod, ripping out an unwanted expansion dependancy, or whatever. I manage my mod list almost entirely using TESAME and the construction set.

That said, I realize that TESTool has its purpose as well, and is good for those who are not modders, and who get a headache just looking at the CS. I just won't touch it myself.

I prefer TESTool with a little touch-up by self-made progs, as some of my mods tend to be too big to clean in TESAME. TESTool is faster, and safe in the same time. Enchanted Editor can help sometimes as well.

TESTool cleans deeper than TESAME or Enchanted Editor allow, so it makes sense to use it wherever it is safe to do so.

I avoid using TESTool with dialogue based mods (quest mods), since my best current understanding is that it removes essential dialogue changes and makes conflicts with other dialogue mods more likely.

So, in these cases, TESAME is a safer bet. I also use Enchanted Editor to fix damage to the TES3 header that TESAME apparently causes whenever it is used. EE fixes this automatically, so I generally just open the ESP and resave. smile.gif
